Real Science & Real Results - How it does it
Everee 3 contains Ovitage® the world’s most complete collagen derived from whole ovine skin and produced using a proprietary process that isolates all of the skin's important components, including structural proteins well beyond the collagen I and III common in traditional collagen products. This functionality is boosted by Livaux®, a clinically proven prebiotic extracted from gold kiwifruit. The result is a protein powder rich in specific amino acids ideally suited to boost the body’s ability to deal with the challenges of perimenopause, from gut health to hair loss, skin health and brain fog.
Gut health and the gut-skin axis
Establishing a healthy gut microbiome is essential for gut health, and the connection to skin health through the gut-skin axis is well established. The Livaux® in Everee 3 has been shown in clinical studies to promote the gut microbe F. prausnitzii (1), thereby reducing gastrointestinal disorders and improve anti inflammatory activity in the gut.
Dropping oestrogen levels reduce the body's ability to produce specific collagens, in particular in the intestinal membranes that may weaken as a result, leading to leaky gut. Boosting the body's ability to make the specific membrane proteins that build this epidermal structure helps combat this symptom of menopause. High cystine proteins have been shown to boost production of membrane proteins collagen IV and collagen VII (2) and the Ovitage® in Everee 3 has a substantially higher cystine content than traditional collagens.
Skin structure and hair health.
Collagen IV is the junctional protein responsible for joining the layers of the skin together and acting in each hair follicle to anchor hair in the head. As a whole skin extract, the Ovitage® in Everee 3 contains this important collagen type. Cystine rich proteins have been shown to increase collagen IV production in the skin and in the hair follicle and so improve skin firmness as well as follicle health to increase hair anchoring and reduce hair loss (3) and the Ovitage® in Everee 3 has substantially greater amounts of cystine than any other collagen or common dietary protein sources such as whey or soy. In addition, collagens, such as Ovitage® have been clinically proven to improve skin hydration (4).
Skin Inflammation
Skin stress during menopause arises from hormonal changes as well as oxidative stress from diet and environmental factors. This leads to skin inflammation and redness. High cystine proteins have been shown to significantly boost the body's production of taurine and glutathione (5). Taurine produced by the body is key to anti inflammatory activity through the taurine chloramine pathway (6). The Ovitage® in Everee 3 boosts this pathway, increasing the ability of the body to fight skin inflammation. Glutathione is known as an important antioxidant produced within skin cells to combat oxidative stress (7). Glutathione production requires cystine and boosting this pathway with high cystine protein specifically combats skin oxidative stress.
Cognitive performance
Glutamic acid is a form of glutamate, the most abundant transmitter in the nervous system and essential for healthy brain function and cognitive performance (8, 9). The impact of hormonal changes on this essential neurotransmitter have been reported in menopausal studies and good levels of glutamic acid from protein help maintain the appropriate balance of glutamate to boost brain function cognition and GABA for calming and anxiety relief (10).
Stress and mood
Studies directly show that increasing tyrosine through short term or long term protein ingestion raises brain tyrosine levels and boosts dopamine (and other catecholamine) production, specifically targeted at actively firing neurons (11). With substantially higher tyrosine than traditional collagen, the Ovitage® in Everee 3 provides the key building blocks for dopamine production and so for stress and mood control.
Dosage
Recommended daily dose of Everee 3 is 7.5g. Traditional collagens are established as effective in the range 2.5-15g (12) in studies on women experiencing perimenopause. The multiplying impact of the high cystine component of Everee 3 is to stimulate greater protein synthesis (2), providing effectiveness at the lower dosage range compared to conventional collagen. Each dose contains 600mg of Livaux®, the recommended dose for prebiotic function.
