Real Science & Real Results - How It Does It
Everee 5 contains Ovitage® the world’s most complete collagen derived from whole ovine skin and produced using a proprietary process that isolates all of the skin's important components, including structural proteins well beyond the collagen I and III common in traditional collagen products. This functionality is boosted by nutrient dense sheep milk and the concentrated benefits of New Zealand olive leaf extract. The result is a protein powder rich in the amino acids and polyphenols ideally suited to providing support for healthy ageing and to address the needs of maintaining lean body mass, maintaining mental clarity and hearth health and protecting against inflammation.
How it works
Muscle Maintenance and Fighting Sarcopenia
Muscle mass is harder to retain as we age. Branched chain amino acids such as isoleucine, leucine and valine are essential for building lean body mass (1) with leucine of particular importance for ageing women (2). Due to use of the unique Ovitage® protein, and complemented with New Zealand sheep milk, Everee Women™ #5 provides substantially more of these crucial amino acids than traditional collagen or dairy proteins and, as a result, assists in retaining muscle mass. The high cystine proteins in Ovitage® have demonstrated the ability to contribute further to the maintenance of lean body mass with studies showing substantial increase in lean body mass as a result of a high cystine protein diet, compared to a dairy protein control (3). Clinical studies of sheep milk protein have also shown increased branched chain amino acid concentrations (including leucine, valine and isoleucine) in women consuming sheep milk (14), making the combination well suited to support muscle maintenance and building lean body mass for healthy ageing.
Bone Strength, Joint Support, Inflammation
The sheep milk in Everee Women™ #5 is 70% higher in calcium than cow’s milk, providing a superior source for improving bone density and reducing the risk of osteoporosis. In addition, the high cystine proteins in Ovitage® have been shown to stimulate production of structural proteins, including junctional collagens, that are important for joint mobility support in ageing tissue (4). High cystine proteins have also been shown to significantly boost the body's production of taurine and glutathione (5). Taurine produced by the body is key to anti-inflammatory activity through the taurine chloramine pathway (6). Due to high cystine content, Everee Women™ #5 boosts this pathway, increasing the ability of the body to fight chronic inflammation. Glutathione is known as an important antioxidant produced within cells to combat oxidative stress and acute or chronic inflammation (7). Cystine enriched proteins such as Ovitage® boost glutathione production resulting in recognised benefits from combatting inflammation and oxidative stress (7).
Mental Clarity
Glutamic acid is a form of glutamate, the most abundant transmitter in the nervous system and essential for healthy brain function and cognitive performance (8, 9). This is supported by the dopamine precursor tyrosine, shown as essential for cognition in particular when under stress or cognitive demand, as occurs during ageing (10). The Ovitage® in Everee Women™ #5 contains twice as much of these important amino acids compared to conventional collagen and so assists cognitive performance during ageing.
Heart Health
Oleuropein is a polyphenolic bioactive compound richer in New Zealand grown olive leaves than conventional olive oil. Oleuropein has been well established as providing cardioprotective effects, and recent clinical studies have demonstrated the mechanism of preventing myocardial injury (11) is via enhanced production of nitric oxide and its associated vasodilation effect (12). Oleuropein's antioxidant activity further helps prevent the impact of LDL cholesterol on the body by preventing it’s passage into cells, a key step in reducing the development of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) (12).
Dosage
Recommended daily dose of Everee Women™ #5 Active Aging Support is 7.5g. Traditionally, collagens and protein supplements are established as effective in the range 2.5-15g (13) with 15g effective for improving lean body mass in women. The multiplying effect of the high cystine component of Ovitage® in Everee Women™ #5 is to stimulate greater protein synthesis (4), providing effectiveness at the lower dosage range.
